HERE'S WHAT ADAM SMITH . . . THE PROPHET OF FREE MARKET CAPITALISM ACTUALLY HAD TO SAY:
. . what improves the circumstances to the greater part can never be regarded as an inconveniency to the whole. No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable."
Like . . . say . . . EVERYONE . . . INCLUDING CORPORATE "PERSONS" . . . paying what they owe in taxes . . . there would be no budget deficits . . . there would be an unexhaustible surplus (assuming we can refrain from invading other countries). Our children's education, our health, our care for the disabled and for the elderly is a social cost . . . that's what Homo sapiens do . . . we are social animals. We could flourish and be happy(ier) . . . if only!
KEEP IN MIND THAT 400 AMERICANS OWN MORE WEALTH THAN FIFTY PERCENT OF ALL OTHER AMERICANS.
"This growing concentration of income at the top is nothing like the distributions of income America experienced in the first three decades following World War II. Nor is it like that found in Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Instead it resembles the distribution of income found in three other major countries: Brazil, Mexico, and Russia." - David Cay Johnson in his book "Free Lunch"
Is this wrong!?
"Let them eat cake. . . . assuming I've thrown what I didn't
want in the garbage and they're lucky enough to find it."
This man was not a tired protestor at the Madison Capital.
He was one of the homeless who took advantage of the
free food and sleeping space at the capital building during
the three weeks the building actually belonged to the people who
pay for it . . . his mattress is a soiled pizza box . . . btw
AND WILL!
